Oval copper platters are traditionally made by hand in Thessaly, Greece. Made by hammering sheets of copper into a flat oval shape, the edges are then finished by hand to create a decorative rim. Lastly, the platter is polished to create a beautiful reflective surface.

Shipping & Returns

All items ship directly from Sertodo in their original packaging.

For returns, we have a 30-day return policy on unused items. We do have a return handling fee, which is normally 5-25%, depending on the condition of the piece. Most items are at a 5%, which covers light cleaning on pieces that were opened and handled. The only time we implement a higher fee is when the piece is returned used. This is very rare.

Please ship the item back using a trackable method. Please try to use the original shipping materials to avoid any damage during transit.
Refunds will be issued once Sertodo has received and inspected the item.
Shipping charges are non refundable.

Yes, for typical serving windows. The Thessaly Oval Platter is unlined pure copper, the traditional build for serveware. Cold and room-temperature foods, breads, cheeses, charcuterie, oysters, fruits, and plated entrees all serve safely. For very acidic sauces or long wet storage, use a liner or transfer to a non-reactive dish.

How do you clean and care for the Sertodo Thessaly Oval Platter?

Wipe clean with a soft damp cloth, or hand wash with warm water and mild soap, then dry right away. Never use a dishwasher, steel wool, or abrasive cleansers on copper. To brighten the finish, rub gently with a cut lemon dipped in salt, rinse, and dry. You can also let the patina deepen naturally; many collectors prefer that lived-in warmth.

Is the Sertodo Thessaly Oval Platter oven-safe or microwave-safe?

Copper is not microwave-safe. It handles a warm oven for short reheats, but the Thessaly Oval Platter is designed for serving rather than baking. Keep it off direct flame and out of the microwave.

I have been looking for a copper bowl for a while, and finally purchased the Sertodo 2.5 Qt (10 in. diameter) bowl. It is absolutely beautiful, and will be perfect for making whipped cream. I am very impressed with the craftsmanship and it's way too pretty to store in a cabinet. I wasn't sure about which size to get, and the 2 Qt is perfect. I included the blender in the picture to give some perspective on the size.
